Dear Joshua,
I've decided to call you by your Hebrew name translated into English, rather than your Hebrew name translated to Greek, translated to English. Hope you don't mind. Joshua, son of Joseph - JJ for short.
JJ,
Is there any way you could teach me how to take an oak barrel, fill it with water, and change it to wine? And please don't tell me "add some grapes and yeast and wait a few months."
When you met the infamous unnamed woman at the well, were you hitting on her?
When crazy people throughout the ages have murdered, raped, discriminated, hated, and politicked in your name, do you wish you could take it all back?
Do you still remember what it feels like to be scared?
Do you still remember how it felt to catch your first fish? I remember my first fish. It was a perch. I was scared to take it off the hook. And I wanted to throw it back immediately because I felt bad the fish couldn't breathe.

it's actually great to hear your voice again. I loved the honesty in this blog.
I could be wrong, but is JJ cross-eyed in that pic? He's definitely looking very WASPy, which fits nicely into my theology. It's so nice to know JJ an American...you've got JJ, Lee Greenwood, Joel Martins...why would anyone hate us? Got any extra figurine's? My dash board is looking pretty bare these days.
Joel,
Have you ever pondered this...
Jesus was Jewish, so does that mean that he had such low self esteem that he didn't even believe in himself enough to be Christian???
